However, even a spell like lava font is highly impractical for a run. I don't think you should depend too much on spells at all (interruption, knckdown, etc.) for a challenging run. I guess an elementalist would have to depend on spells (Use mantra of resolve?), but tanks don't and they typically make the best runners.

you could maybe keep it as an "oh F***" button. warriors dream they had sthing that causes scatter the amount of times i've seen runners get pinned down in a corner and die a slow and painfull death

i think that would also be impractical, as it would take up a valuble skill slot!
also, if the runner was any good he/she wouldnt be cought in a situation like that.

lag sometimes puts u in that position. when i made up a running build as E/R i had about 2 free slots anyway ... never tried the lava font idea out....some might argue that you might be delt too much dmg while casting it or might even get interrupted. but as agreed in the thread shouldn't be like THE strategy for runing only for emergencies

I ran from lion's arch to sanctum cay with...
storm chaser
dodge
escape
windbrone speed
troll ungent
that's pretty much it.
Just use windbrone speed before a bigger mob, and use storm chaser after windbrone run out, follow with dodge then escape.
With enough point in storm chaser, u can do storm chaser -> dodge -> escape and have speed up at all time. Windbrone speed is more of a back up.

You all are forgetting an amazing skill for ele runners. I run elona all the time. If you want to be a good ele runner..look into Armor of Mist. Gives you speed ANNDDD armor bonus. Can't go wrong with it.

Elona's Run
I just did it on Friday or Saturday. It was my first time doing a run as a Mo/E. Usually I use my W/R, or R/Mo. So here was my skills.
Air Elemental: 12
Water Elemental: 12
Healing: 5 (minor rune + scar)
Wielding Yakslapper (totally useless since I have 1 into Divine Favor - rune)
Skills:
Windborn Speed
Armor of Mist
Armor of Frost
Mist Form (E)
Mend Ailment
Healing Breeze (didn't use)
Holy Veil (didn't use)
Rebirth (didn't use)
So basically, I cast Armor of Frost then Armor of Mist then Mist Form. once that runs out, I cast Windborn Speed. I cast Mend Ailment to remove crippling. I did that for both crystals.
The trick is to know exactly when to cast these spells. There are a few places when you can cast safely.
I was helping friends do this mission, thats why I had Mist Form. Is it necessary? No, but it helps a lot. If you use blocking stances or evading stances, it will help almost as much. You must cast mend ailment a lot more.
Never came close to dying when I ran.
Hope this helps.
Oops, I should mention who I should give credit for this idea.
Fargin Scotchsman - for mentioning Armor of Mist, Mist Form, and Windborn Speed
I wouldn't have thought about running until these 3 skills were mentioned. Even then I had my doubts. As long as you know when to use them (spell casting time is between 1 and 2 seconds), you should be fine running to almost anywhere with E/*. I think only E/W can make a drok's run from Becon's Perch (I mean out of the E/*), because of stances.
